A different paradigm of warfare: Terrorism. Though this type engagement has been around for some time, it appears to be gaining popularity and effectiveness. What inspires human beings to volunteer for suicide missions? Is it a matter of desperation or manipulation? Does "Jihad" really mean what the extremists claim? Why don't more "moderate" Muslims speak out? Is the Iraq war reducing terrorism or invigorating hatred towards the West, namely, the United States? This serious and enigmatic topic is contemplated by our international discussion group.
Xochitl, Christopher, Esther, Arman, Christy, & Dave grapple over this international matter with perspectives from France, Iran, Korea, Mexico, & America.

that was a good topic for podcast, but i dont think the story about 70 vergin is not true ,because as we know from the news there is lots of women who are terrorist.I think terrorisim is nothing to do whith religion ,they are mostly like Gang members, when they get involve into that, they will do anything for the Gang and other gangmembers,so i think terrorism is an acteavity that has been in the world forever,it doesn't mather what country or what religion,we can see it all over the world like :Russa,China,France,Italy,Bolgaria , Turky ,Armenia and...it will never stop.

I ment that story of 70 virgin is NOT TRUE (sorry for the grammer !),as Xochitl says in the podcast some translation comes with personal ideas and somethimes there is misunderestanding that could bring wrong informations and we cant exactly trust those.

Terrorism is bad because it requires the sacrifice of people in order to reach their goal. They also take religion as an excuse to manipulate people to succed in their beliefs.

From my opinion, terrorism had been taking place at different countries and by different terrorist groups.
And I agree with Dave that nowadays terrorism had become more powerful than before. From my view, terrorism had become stronger by not only committing suicide themselves, but also by taking advantage of the high technology.
It was very interesting to learn different perspectives.
Great topic !
Oh, and by the way… I want to be adopted by Esther too… =p
I’ll be more than happy to have a mom not only at home, but also at school. =)
